If you do costuming/cosplay: would you wear those outfits for it (or for Halloween) or make something else? โ ๐ Carnival is fast approaching and that gives me an excuse to jump on the band wagon and make one of those cute mushroom hats I’ve seen all over the internet ๐ Instead of using cardboard and hot glue like most tutorials seem to do I upcycled a broken hat and sewed the fabric onto it (which takes more time.but is lighter in the end). Being a craft hoarder I had all the supplies I needed on hand. Most of it were scraps from other projects, I just needed to do some creative piecing of the red felt (which you can see on the back). I really love carnival over here at the villages and small towns, especially because there’s still a lot of handcraft especially in the parade wagons. Of course I’ve got a ton of costumes but I rarely wear those for the festivities ๐ First of all I don’t want my fancy historical and steampunk stuff be ruined and second: I almost always get this weird burst of motivation to make something new and whimsical to wear AND it gives me the opportunity to do things I wouldn’t wear during the rest of the year. Like this mushroom ๐๐ (We don’t have Halloween but Carnival is pretty much the same when it comes to costume opportunities, but with more days to dress up, mainly Thursday through Tuesday.) So I’ll use the remaining days making the rest of the outfit to wear on Fat Thursday (which is called Hag’s Carnival or Old Women’s Carnival over here ๐ ). Do you have any plans or costumes you want to do outside your usual crafting? ______ #costuming #costume #Mushroomhat #Fasching #Karneval #mushroom #fairy #cosplay | Ruffles & Steam – Frl.
