Beautiful rustic bespoke floating shelf designed to fit alcoves and similar spaces. These ultra thick shelves will add a bold look to any room and are a great alternative to alcove bookcases/ units. Crafted from reclaimed pine, our current stock was salvaged from Suffolk + Norfolk buildings, seasoned wood ranging from 60 to 100+ years making these shelves both solid and full of character. Each shelf is unique and comes with its own personality. As with all reclaimed wood, it will show signs of its past life which all adds to the natural charm and beauty of these pieces. All our wood from this range has been hand selected for its aesthetics and quality. Knocks, bumps ,nail marks and even the odd piece of embedded metal can be found within the wood itself. With a piece of wood this age, the grain really does take on a whole new depth. We sand the wood just enough for it to be clean and smooth, with out wiping away the timbers history. All shelves as standard will be finished with 3 coats of natural wax to enhance the grain and show off the natural beauty of the wood. Other wax finishes can be used upon request – just send us a message and we’ll be more than happy to help. These shelves are designed to fit alcove spaces in a ‘floating’ style using a clever technique. We make a discreet groove at each end of the shelf which then slides onto the easy-to-install wooden block brackets. This offers very substantial support. The timber used is very thick measuring approximately 7.5cm (3 inch) and made to the depth of your alcove to a maximum of 30.5 (12 inch) Please select the length of your shelf on the dropdown menu. The lengths are listed in 10cm increments. Please select the option which is closest to your required shelf. For example: For a 143cm shelf you would select the 140cm option. For a 146cm shelf you would select the 150cm option. ** The listed price is per shelf** ***Please see our measuring tips below as on multiple shelf orders each shelf may need to vary in size *** MEASURING TIPS BELOW As alcoves aren’t always perfectly square and uniformed, we would suggest measuring both where the back of the shelf would sit, and where the front of the shelf would sit when calculating the length of the shelf you require. Then you should use the smaller of the two measurements to ensure the shelf will fit correctly. We would also suggest deducting 3-4mm from this length to allow a slight gap either side. Please note: These are made to fit snug as the shelf will slide onto the wall mounted brackets. We have included a video of the side of the shelves and how they slide on. If you are ordering multiple shelves, we would also recommend measuring the length of the alcove at each height incase the alcove widens or narrows at any point. All fixtures and fittings supplied.
